Floating Down the River: The Ultimate Bonding Experience
Read MoreClosed for the season • Reopening 2027
To every single one of you who braved the unhinged season of 2026 — the sassy water levels, the surprise weather, all of Mother Nature’s plot twists — thank you.
Your faces made it bearable. Your laughs made it worth it. Every float, every firefly night, every kid’s first crawdad — that’s what we’ll carry into the off-season. We adore y’all more than you realize. 💙
Rest up, dry out, and we’ll see you on the water.
— Floatery Crew & Karma Sue 🐶
Know your route and know the river before you go β it all makes for a better day on the Dan.
Lazy floater or river paddler β we've got a seat for you. Every rental gets you the works: shuttle, parking, changing room, life vest, and tube connectors.
Built for the long, comfortable float. Full bottom, cupholder for your drink, headrest for maximum lounging, internal safety bladder for peace of mind, and connectors so your crew stays together. Hop in and float the Dan River right.
Part tube, part kayak β the best of both worlds. The Tracker gives you the relaxed float of a tube with the maneuverability of a kayak. Paddle included, so you can cruise at your own pace, slip through rapids with ease, and keep up with your group.
Your snacks and drinks deserve their own ride. Pick the size that fits your haul:
| Blue β $15 | Small cooler + a bag |
| Yellow β $25 | Multiple coolers, or cooler + bags |
| White β $10 | One cooler (mesh bottom) |
The Dan River is beautiful, wild, and always changing. Here's what to expect getting in and out of the water β so there are no surprises on float day.
The good news: our current river entry sits level with the water β an easy walk-in that bypasses the rocks entirely. No climbing, no scrambling, just step in and float.
Your float ends at a public park β it's not our property, and we have no control over its condition, design, or upkeep. Exiting the river there means climbing boulder steps up the riverbank.
The Dan River has naturally high banks β water levels swing with Mother Nature from about 2 feet to 28 feet, so the bank height and footing at the takeout change throughout the season.
Questions about access, mobility, or what to expect? Ask us before you book β we'd rather talk it through than have anyone surprised at the riverbank. π
Keeping your float safe and fun. We're a full-disclosure company β if the river isn't safe, we don't run. Period.
We check weather and river conditions every day using three trusted sources:
We also keep an eye on flooding upstream β heavy rain there can prompt Duke Energy to release extra water from the dam, which can raise the river quickly and without much warning.
NC weather changes fast, so we make the final call the night before or the morning of your trip β that way we're deciding with the freshest, most accurate information, not yesterday's forecast.
Floats may be canceled for storms, high water, unsafe CFS levels, or other hazardous river conditions. When conditions are unsafe, we cancel β no exceptions. Your safety is never up for negotiation.
If we cancel your trip, you'll receive an e-card good for the rest of the season toward a future float. We don't issue refunds β but we will always take care of you.
ALWAYS check your email the morning of your trip. All closure notices go to the email address you booked with, along with your e-card details. You are responsible for letting everyone in your group know β we notify the booker, you notify your crew. π£
