Wooden Answer to Rising Water Levels

Autocanoe under way. Id like to see a video of this, but it does float!

The Autocanoe under way.

This completely custom boat nests a recumbent bike inside a wood canoe hull.  Apparently built in Port Townsend, WA in 2002, you can purchase plans for $40 from there website where you can also see more pictures.  There is also teensy movie of the Autocanoe on the street.  There is also promise of an electric version as well.  I’m curious if that may yet be on its way…

Often, amphibious vehicles have a favorite mode, and I suspect this one might love the street.  I would love a movie of it in the water. I am curious about the cruising speed and realistic range in terms of effort.  I think my favorite aspect is that you can pedal it  for launch and retrieval from the water.  I also like how the rudder-wheel gives it crazy maneuverability on the land.  Double duty seems to be the name of the game with bike-boats.  In this case, its not clear if a beefy hull is itself is offering structural integrity on the land (see rear wheel bolted to transom), or if there is more armature inside.
